elements of nature

J. Mane Gallery is proud to present its Elements of Nature online juried art exhibition.

The Elements of Nature are fourfold, Wind/Air, Water, Earth & Fire. Without these, the world could not function in the perfect and orderly fashion that it does. The wind raises the clouds to form the rain, that nurtures the earth to grow vegetation, fruits, and flowers, and the wood that kindles the fire.

For this competition, artists were encouraged to share their artistic vision of the four elements.  All media were accepted, including 3-D. Artists over the age of 18, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit their best-inspired work.

Each of our themed exhibitions, awards for Best In Show, Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards. Artists represented in this exhibition are from the USA, Romania, Columbia, and Israel.

The remaining artists included in the exhibition serve as an example of impressive talent and we are honored to showcase their artwork on the J. Mane Gallery website.

We thank all the competition participants. If you are interested in purchasing any of the artwork in this exhibition, please contact the artists directly. J. Mane Gallery does not enter into the selling of artwork featured in any of the monthly online exhibitions. You will find the artist's website or email by clicking on the images below.

Thank you for visiting our website and enjoy the exhibition!

Mark weller

Mark Weller is a full-time lens-based artist from Wisconsin. He specializes in documenting the natural world. “I love clouds and the effects of observing and photographing them over time, often several minutes, witnessing and detailing each twist and turn as the wind creates spectacular designs. After all, clouds are never in reruns.” Weller specializes in incorporating the fourth dimension into his 2-dimensional art. “I am utterly fascinated by that concept. How we see things fundamentally influences our perception of our surroundings, our attitudes, our understanding of who we are and how we fit into the cosmos.”
In the past 3 years, Weller’s work has appeared throughout the country in 18 art museums and over 100 gallery exhibitions, earning numerous awards.

Brian Hallas

Botany inhabits my daily life, both at home and in my profession. As a gardener, I grow and sell plants, shrubs, and trees. Every day, I see amazing examples of nature at play, especially the vivid blossoms that change throughout the seasons. I am constantly using my iPhone to chronicle the marvelous variety of flowers that decorate my life. It’s a fascinating world filled with wonderful, eccentric colors, shapes, and textures, and the pleasure this brings to me is unbounded. I also use my phone to play around with the photographs with various apps and filters to see what further astonishes and amuses me. I utilize the resultant images as individual layers, and looking for the surprises that occur, combine the variations to create the final piece. These improvisations are often kaleidoscopic and usually quite painterly, which alters the nature of photography itself. In this way, I try to bring out the unseen – the mysterious intensification of the natural qualities that so intrigue me - to give other viewers as passionate and enigmatic an experience as I have enjoyed. Through this artistic endeavor, the viewer becomes my collaborator, traversing the entire adventure from the personal to the universal, surely the measure of any work worthy enough to be called art.

Aerial Alps Gallium Alloy 1, Digital Painting, 40 x 30

Andrea Hellman

Andrea Hellman, Ed.D., is an associate professor of English at Missouri State University. She studied studio art at the School of the Worcester Art Museum.  Her recent art is about play and exploration in digital painting. She experiments with color schemes, compositions, lines, fills, light, textures, and capture brushes to express whimsical wonderings, novel imagery, a remix of ideas, and connections among art forms. In Gallium Alloy Alps, she fused snapshots of the Alps taken from an airplane window with the texture of a soft, silvery metal in its liquid form to see if the alchemy could transform a hazy cellphone shot into something more transcendent and worthy of awe that the vista inspired.

Andrea's paintings are available on her website https://www.andreahellman.com/

She welcomes you to follow her work on Facebook and Instagram (@AndreaHellmanArt).
