J. Mane Gallery is pleased to present its Abstract Art International Online Juried Art Exhibition for the month of April 2018.

Abstract art uses the visual language of shapes, form, color and texture to create a composition that is independent from visual references in the world.  It can mean anything in an artist's emotional life they want it to mean.  It awakens our curiosity as viewers about the limits of our imagination.

Each of our monthly themed exhibitions, awards for First, Second and Third Place are presented.  The First Place winner is David Quinn for his photograph, Bag 7005.  As the First Place winner, David will also be our Featured Artist for the month of April.  Click here to see more of his work.

Taking Second Place is Slava Bruma for her photograph  Untitled, and Third Place goes to Ewa Matyja for his mixed media piece, Untitled.

Eight honorable mention awards were given as well. Honorable Mention awards go to Forrest Aderholt for his oil on canvas, Imagining Of The Penancho, Nancy Breakstone for her Untitled photograph, William Brennan for his acrylic and pencil on canvas, At The Dog Run, Brittany Ciccone for her acrylic on canvas, Faceless #1, Riccardo Liotta for his acrylic, Polychropo Composition 001, Massimo Meo for his mixed media work, MMVXII.BG.I, Matthew Miklavcic  for his digital image, Color 2 and Eric Seplowitz for his photo Cosmic Collision.

Juror for our Abstract Art competition was American, abstract artist, Mary Elizabeth Peterson.  She looked for balance in color-to-color relations and form and inherent meaning, as well as beauty, skill, and uniqueness.  Mary Elizabeth is based in North Carolina and Connecticut.  She is a juried member of the elite Silvermine Art Guild and is represented at the Sozo Gallery in Charlotte, NC, the Silvermine Gallery in New Canaan, CT, Lillian August, Pottery Barn and William Sonoma Home.  You can learn more about Mary Elizabeth Peterson and her work at
